In 2001, Hybrid Theory became the biggest selling album of the year (and recent memory). The band fought off big name artists such as Shaggy, Creed and N*Sync to sell a staggering 4.8 million copies in the US alone, to claim the title. Since then, the album has sold approximately 18 million records worldwide, as is still holding strong on Billboard's "Top Pop Catalog Albums" chart, with a total of 206 weeks thus far. On the 24th October 2004 it will be 4 years to the day since the legendary album was released.
For the past 3 years, members of the Linkin Park Underground have celebrated this achievement with the proclaimed "Linkin Park Day", on October 24th.
This day is dedicated to the success that Linkin Park have achieved since they hit the scene in later 2000.
