I'm gonna post all of my poems at some point, but here's one of my favorites, for now... called "Staring At The Sun".
Staring at the sun again... far too long
What drew me to it, a mystery
My tainted history may one day reveal
the cause of despair
I perpetually feel
Powerless to this being
this vanishing monster...
what has He done for me?
What crimes are committed tonight,
that brings oppression upon
this stranger?
Another innocent victim lies
Can you wake the dead?
For He cannot
and neither can I
Beasts in a cage, we are
and the locks can’t be broken
I will not worship, will not succomb
to the tightening noose of religion
Speak what you may about faith
about right and wrong
Tell me I’ve sinned
Tell me I’m descending
Tell me He lives
Tell me He’s dead
Tell me what you like about your God
Corner me, force me
Can’t divert my eyes
When my invisible fate
sets in upon me
I will bow and beg
If the time comes, succomb I will
But only if...
For now I will live
in my field of broken halos
Staring at my paintbrush sky
Staring at the sun again...

The song "Judith" by A Perfect Circle inspired me to write this... it's basically about how I've lived my whole life around a very Christian environment, in catholic schools, and just wanting to break away from the people trying to force their beliefs on me. Reviews are appreciated :)
