"LINKIN PARK JOIN METALLICA AT THIS YEARS DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL"
Linkin Park will be joining Metallica at this year's K!-sponsored Download festival, which has been officially confirmed to take place at Donington Park on June 5 and 6.
The Californian nu-metal stars will headline the festival on June 5, while Metallica will headline on the following evening. The two bands toured the US together last year on the huge 'Summer Sanitarium' stadium tour.
"What I enjoy most about being in this band is having the opportunity to create and perform music," says Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. "I would like to thank those who support us in the UK and playing Download will be the highlight of 2004."
Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich tells Kerrang!: "At last years Download, we were just a side-stage band! From the parking lot band to becoming headliners in 12 months. Thank you everyone! As far as I'm concerned, Donington is sacred ground."
Following the success of last years festival, this year a scaled down event will also take place in Scotland. Staged at the Glasgow Green on June 2 and 3, the Download Scotland event will ru from 4:30pm until 10:30pm. Metallica will headline the first evening, with Linkin Park closing the show the following night.
