rbourdon says (16:29): Hey guys, I'm here. Sorry I'm running late, just been listening to some of our new music with Mike and Joe.
rbourdon says (16:30): You can get the questions started now.
radq says (16:30): Hi Rob! I just wanna ask when the first single of the new album will be released?
Ravynlee says (16:30): Hi Rob. Given your fame, you’re open to general discussion on a regular basis - what do you think of others general opinions of you, how you are exalted, used for creative inspiration, and how do you distance yourself from any of it? Love from me and my sis Jojo (Crazy Robster) and the rest of CoB @ LPF
rbourdon says (16:31): Hopefully the first single will be out sometime in March.
Revolution says (16:31): Hey Rob! any idea on when the new album will actually be released? What can we expect from the new album?
rbourdon says (16:32): We're very excited about the new album, can't wait for you guys to hear it. It should be out by summertime.
rbourdon says (16:33): On the new album, we worked with Rick Rubin which was a very exciting and different experience from our past ones, and we were able to write some songs, and move in a direction we'ver never gone before. You guys are going to love it.
Reagan3000 says to rbourdon (16:33): WHAT IS THE NEW ALBUM TO BE CALLED?
rbourdon says (16:33): That's a great question.
rbourdon says (16:34): Still thinking of one.
Melleneverdies says to rbourdon (16:34): hello Rob! when we'll see LPTV???
methid says (16:34): Rob, are there going to be any 'instrumental' songs and/or on the new album?
Matt1147 says to rbourdon (16:35): Hey i am Matt, Linkin Park being one of the first Nu-Metal bands, you got to see how Nu-Metal has changed and influenced over the years. How do you think LP will influnce people who take interest in that Genre and the people who shape nu metal?
rbourdon says (16:35): LPTV- hopefully sometime this month.
masimoes says (16:35): which part of this new album recording process did you like the most? LOVE FROM BRAZIL!
rbourdon says (16:36): We've worked really hard on the new LPTV episodes, and we went back and recapped a lot of the past, and we also have a lot of great footage from the current project in the studio, working together in all the different environments where we were working on
rbourdon says (16:36): this album
MarianaAkirabr says (16:36): Is the first single heavy, melodic or what? does it sound like the rest of the album?
MinaBennington says to rbourdon (16:37): What about the drums in the new album? Is it harder than in the other albums? Thank you from Brazil. LPInsideBR crew.
LPHybrid says (16:40): it's fun when the server crashes isnt it
rbourdon says (16:42): I'm not sure yet, but we're currently in the process of selecting what songs will be on the album, and the sequencing, and we're never really sure until that process takes place.
nipanimal says (16:43): Rob, Hi From England, First it's a pleasure to be talking to you, and thank you for taking time to do so. You have toured alot of countries with Linkin Park but which Country has the best/craziest groupies and why? :)
nkramar says (16:43): Hey Rob - For the Fort Minor Militia, Mike released an FM b-side or demo every month. This attracted members to the site and allowed the fan club to hear exclusive media. Does LP have any plans to do something like this for the LPU?
rbourdon says (16:45): My favorite places to tour are Australia, South East Asia, and I also love playing in Brazil.
LPHybrid says (16:45): not all questions will be answered - we only have time for a certain amount and it would take HOURS to answer one question from everyone in here.... bear with us and let's just be happy Rob's here to chat with us
rbourdon says (16:46): All of our fans are crazy, they just express it in a different way. It's fun to see how our fans from all over the world relate to our music.
Matt1147 asked: Linkin Park being one of the first Nu-Metal bands, you got to see how Nu-Metal has changed and influenced over the years. How do you think LP will influence people who take interest in that Genre and the people who shape nu metal?
masimoes says: Which part of this new album recording process did you like the most?
rbourdon says (16:47): We never like to think of ourselves as being part of a certain genre of music. We are always continuing to change our style and try new things to keep our songwriting and music fresh. Hopefully by doing that we can help influence other musicians to do
rbourdon says to (16:47): the same.
niaminor91 says (16:48): hi Rob!!! my questions are; what`s the name of the new single? how does it sounds like? Are you guys planning to change your looks for the new album?
rbourdon says (16:48): I enjoy the writing process the most.
onestpclosr06 says (16:48): Rob, a pleasure talking to you...although Qwerty will not actually be on the new album, is the style of music from Qwerty the general style we can expect on the new album?
rbourdon says (16:48): And I like that process this time more than others, because it was different than in the past, and I think it yielded a great result.
oneabsentshadow says (16:48): What type (style/brand) of drums are you using on this album? Can't wait for you to come to Texas.
onurece says (16:49): Hi Rob! Are you planning to put any drum or guitar solos in the new album? Lots of love from Turkey
rbourdon says (16:49): We don't know what the name of the first single is, or which song on the album it will be. It's hard to chose which the single should because love all the songs.
rbourdon says (16:49): Unfortunately, I don't think there's going to be any drum solos on the record, but you'll have to ask Brad about the guitar solos.
rbourdon says (16:50): I recorded the new album with my usual Gretch drums.
rbourdon says (16:51): But I also tried out over 30 different types of snare drums to find some really cool unique sounds, and also brought in a very small hip-hop kit to vary the drum sound on some of the songs.
JonandBT says (16:51): Try to keep touring questions more geenral than SPECIFIC
PartTimeThinker says (16:51): What do you feel you've learnt from making this album, and what new skills have you picked up along the way that you feel will be of use in the future? Learnt how to Juggle? -
PrettyHateMachine says (16:51): Hi Rob! Are you guys thinking of releeasing a dvd with the new album like Meteora? Or perhaps another Frat Part-style dvd? Big-up from England!!
Pct1theory says (16:52): Sup Rob! just wanted to know if 1.) do u guyshave the NAME for the album? 2.) if u can, can u tells us what it is, were dying to know man.. N.Y. Long Island
rbourdon says (16:53): I learned a lot from working with Rick Rubin on this album, and one of the most important things I learned was to find the right feel behind performance, and the way I listen to my drum parts now is totally different.
QContinuum says to rbourdon (16:53): Gday Rob, Will the new album include any Instrumental songs ? Perhaps a few bonus instrumentals of favourite songs from previous albums ?
rbourdon says (16:55): One of the most important lessons that I learned from Rick, is sometimes the 1st performance can be better than the 100th one, even though a lot of work went into making the 100th one different, it doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
ScatteredEchos says (16:56): What?s the album called? Come on, give us an exclusive!!! Or the title of one of the songs!! Anything!!!!! Some BRAND new information would be super!!!
Steve_Dickinson says (16:56): Hey, when you're touring this year, how much old material are you likely to play? I'm thinking specifically of tracks from the Hybrid Theory days, I would give anything to hear My December live!
Satre666 says (16:56): How many songs have you guys finished/done for the new single so far? much love from VA!
SergSlim says (16:56): Hey Rob! Big hug from all Ukrainian fans!
We wanna know what is needed from one particular country for you to come here with concert. Does the amount of fans registered in LPU affect this, or there are other influencing factors? Say something to Ukrainians
LPHybrid says (16:57): Try to refrain from touring questions
LPHybrid says (16:57): the band will go where they can! :)
SPIKE98 says (16:58): I read in a rolling stones article that the rock part of the new lp album sounded like ac/dc or was influenced by their music and music like their's music, is this true, and if not what music influenced this album? btw I LOVE LP!!
rbourdon says (16:58): When we're touring we tend to always mix it up, playing older stuff and newer stuff. I think it will be great to play some of the first songs ever written, along with the newer songs.
rbourdon says (16:58): During this writing process, we've written over 100 songs, and we actually finished about 25, and now we've narrowed it down a little bit more and are selecting the best ones to be on the album.
rbourdon says (17:00): There are many cities around the world, and it's impossible for us to get to every one. So we're going to make our best effort on this touring cycle to get to some cities we've never been to before.
Translation_Chemicals says (17:00): Hi.. I just want to know how you deal with the pressures of touring and recording? And how you let loose in spare time.
ScatteredEchos says (17:00): Rob, you?re very pretty, do your muscles come from drum playing alone or do you work out? My friend Bec loves you.
rbourdon says (17:01): It's hard to say that one type of music has influenced us during the writing process of our new album, as there are so many different influences out there....I think we've mixed all of those together better than we've ever done before, and re-defined
trendyscreenname says (17:01): Hey there--thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Have Linkin Park's songs ever been translated into other languages? Love and hugs from D.C.! -Taylor
rbourdon says (17:01): our sound as a band.
troytheninja says (17:01): Had you and the other guys ever considered a "Reanimation-style" effort with the tracks from Meteora? What made you decide against it?
rbourdon says (17:02): Unfortunately, I haven't been working out and I've been relyingsolely on my drum playing and my muscles aren't so big anymore.
LPHybrid says (17:02): sad
LPHybrid says (17:02): poor kirsty
JonandBT says (17:02): do you have a belly now?
ScatteredEchos says (17:02): i didn't expect that to get through!!!
JonandBT says (17:03): Please do not talk out of turn
rbourdon says (17:03): We've translated lyrics before, but never audio.
Trumtram says (17:03): whatever happened to the machine shop mixtape song?
rbourdon says (17:04): We did consider doing some remixes on Meteora, but we felt like we already did it once with Hybrid Theory, and we wanted to try something new.
rbourdon says (17:04): We had a great opportunity to work with Jay-Z and we ended up doing Collision Course.
vampiresdismay says (17:04): whut made uguys change ur sound in music and whut artists do u think inspired u all for this change...also i would appreciate it if u could tell phoenix happy b day and that i think its so sick that i share the same b day as he does
vnycius says (17:05): Did have some important reason in the career of LP for the total change in the new musical style? Tired of same "new metal"? Brazil wants LP here!
Vdalem says (17:05): Is there a chance of a double album, seeing that you guys already did so many songs
rbourdon says (17:05): We didn't completely change our sound, but we definitely want to experiment and try some new things. Each guy in the band has different influences and that's what made the process so creative.
WesleyBR says to rbourdon (17:05): Hi Rob, whats up? You said in LPU Newsletter, that left side a song called "Grecian" to work in an idea that Phoenix brought, that in the case is "Qwerty", right? Will "Grecian" be on the album or was it discarded definitively? Thank you for the attentio
whythedarkness says (17:06): Hi there. Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us. My question is: what helps you to overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that might come in the way of achieving your dreams and of you getting to the top of your game?
LPHybrid says (17:06): LP's gonna bring sexy back. fo sho.
rbourdon says (17:07): Qwerty will not be on the record, it's an LPU exclusive.
rbourdon says (17:09): We have definitely hit many obstacles along the way, and I've also hit some obstacles in my personal life along the way. Continuing to evaluate our goals as a band and our personal goals, we/I have been able to overcome any obstacles along the way.
rbourdon says (17:09): Persistance and hard work are the key formula to overcoming any obstacle, and there's always a way.
x0xLinkinParkx0x says (17:09): Hey Rob!Firstly Thanks For Coming Here And Chatting ^,^
Anyway Erm..Are You Guys Putting Together Any Music Videos To Be Realesed Soon Before The Album?.ThankYouu From Lettie Amie And Estefi Xx =]
xBrazilianChickx says (17:10): Hey Rob,I was wondering if u would ever like to work with a reggeaton artist or do u even like the music? i also saw that the name of the album is gonna be "Rotality" in Brazil's airport on Aug.'06,is it true?...lots of love from Puerto Rico. (}) -tami
rbourdon says (17:10): And sometimes when you feel like you are banging your head against the way, it's necessary to take a step back and everything seems to have a way of working itself out.
zztineofie says to rbourdon (17:11): Hi Rob. Since you guys still are the only one who have heard your new album im just wondering... Wich album do you think is the best one of "hybrid Theory", "meteora", and the new one, and why? Cant wait to hear it :D
zrakoczy says (17:12): Hey Rob, can we expect a little longer album? Meteora was 12 songs and aobut 37 minutes. Can we expect 16 or 17 songs and about 50 min to an hour of new music?
rbourdon says (17:12): Trying to pick which album I like the best, is like a parent trying to pick which child they like best. All are different, but we're excited about the new one because it's really different than the ones we have done in the past.
rbourdon says (17:12): Not sure on the length of the new album yet.
xBrazilianChickx says (17:13): Hey Rob,I was wondering if u would ever like to work with a reggeaton artist or do u even like the music? i also saw that the name of the album is gonna be "Rotality" in Brazil's airport on Aug.'06,is it true?...lots of love from Puerto Rico. -
rbourdon says (17:13): We will definitely have some surprises for you though.
atouchofmagic says (17:14): Hi rob, my names paul, from england, I recently read on the net that LP were mixing songs for a possible mash up album with eminem. one of the tracks being crawling/when im gone. is this true? if it is, when will you continue to record? + uk tour planned??
rbourdon says (17:14): Still no name for the album, and never really thought about working with reggeaton.
Airazor says (17:14): Hey, Rob! Earlier in the chat you said you guys haven't picked which song will be the first single. However, is there any idea for a video? A theme for it, plans to shoot it and would Joe be directing it? ~ Amber {Taeolas} [Toronto, Ontario, Canada]
ArielCahen says (17:14): hi rob! thanks for coming. chester said the album is gonna sound different but people will still be able to tell it's linkin park. can you tell us how different it sounds? should we worry? thank you. Brazil LOVES LP SO MUCH. please come back!!
rbourdon says (17:14): I haven't heard about any mash-ups with Eminem, but that would be pretty cool.
rbourdon says (17:15): Yes there's a very good chance Joe will be directing the video for the first single, as soon as we find out which one is going to be the first one.
rbourdon says (17:15): What's up Brazil!
ArmyMen says (17:15): like venezuela?
4deep says (17:15): hey rob...grettings from malibu and Pepperdine.....what's your favorite band to tour with?? thanks!
rbourdon says (17:16): The album is definitely different than the others, but I think you guys are really going to love it, because we love it. All the albums we've put out int he past we've loved 100%.
BuzzTheFuzz says (17:17): Rob, I know you guys are trying to sound as different as possible then anyone else, but if you had to choose, what band does your new album most closley resemble? Mabey a combonation of bands? ~buzz from p-town illinois
Bob_Vernen says (17:17): Hey, is Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance friends?
rbourdon says (17:17): The last Projekt Revolution tour was one of my favorites.
rbourdon says (17:18): It's really hard to describe the sound of our new album, and unfortunately you guys are going to have to wait a little bit longer to hear it. But we're extremely excited for you guys to hear it and we can't wait until that day comes.
bec says to rbourdon (17:19): any songs you say 'yippy i never have to play you again' now there is a new album? and can't wait for download...better be a M&G or I'll spank you!
rbourdon says (17:20): I think if I were to try to describe the sound of the new album to you, I'd be doing you a disservice. It's best for you to listen to it from a fresh unbiased view.
CynthiaK says to rbourdon (17:20): Hey Rob-- Are you guys planning to do Projekt Revolution this year? If so, what bands would you like to tour with?
rbourdon says (17:21): I personally haven't met the guys in My Chem, but I love their music and I think their live show kicks ass.
rbourdon says (17:21): Yes we are planning to do Projekt Revolution this year, and we're putting together the line-up now.
DJRavok says (17:22): In the past, Pheonix stated that the elimination process for the songs was done, and that you were in the mixing process. We hear an album release in April. What is going on with that?
Dark_Katie says (17:22): Hello Rob, are you going to go to the Czech republic on the tour? So I?ve one question. It?s about LPU 6: Whose idea was the mosquito like the main motive of actual LPU and why???
DeMz says (17:23): Hi Rob! Hugs from Polish fans! Here's my question: Will there be any slow/beautiful songs on the album like 'Breaking The Habit' or 'Crawling' for e.g.? We love you guys! Please, come to Poland! We're waiting for you! Lots of love from Polish fans!
doubleburger says (17:23): hey rob. why did you guys decide qwerty shouldnt be on the album? is it because it doesnt fit with the rest of the album?
Dark_Demise says (17:23): Hey, Is your new album going to be more uplifting music or more depressing then the other albums, and does the new album have any cussing?
rbourdon says (17:23): The April release date was bad info. We are currently mixing the songs that we know will be on the album. And there's still a few up in question songs that will be the last to get mixed. After that we will sequence and master the album.
EmceeMaster says (17:24): rob, we saw some pics of the guys playing basketball in the photo journal. Now it's time to 'fess up: who has the most game? i suppose the pseudo question i'm trying to pose is: how do you spend time when you're stuck for ideas:dominos..monopoly..starbucks
Energy says (17:25): Hey Rob, is there any chance of us hearing the haunting sounds of the Team Sleep My December remix that was originally planned for Reanimation? Also what's your favourite cheese? from lpfuse.co.uk
ernieball003 says to rbourdon (17:25): You said earlier that you guys finished about 25 songs for the album. Is there any chance that the songs that don't make the final cut could see the light of day as b-sides, LPU exclusives, or even released as a Nirvana: With The Lights Out type of CD?
rbourdon says (17:27): The new album definitely has an eclectic mix of styles, some similar to what we've done in the past, and some completely different.
rbourdon says (17:28): I would say that Phoenix has the most game on the basketball court. And when we're stuck for ideas, we usually resort to video games.
rbourdon says (17:29): There's definitely a chance that we'll release some exclusive songs in the future, just not sure where or which songs just yet.
rbourdon says (17:30): I've got to run, I want to take a minute to thank you guys for your loyalty and for sticking by us from the very beginning. Without our fans we woudl not be able to make music that we love and play shows and travel the world, and I'm forever grateful
rbourdon says (17:30): for you guys.
LPHybrid says (17:30): Thanks Rob! have a good one
JonandBT says to LinkiedTheory (17:30): Thanks for stoppin by San Diego
