After numerous rumours, lots of hints and a ton of wishful thinking, Mike Shinoda, in an MTV interview, has confirmed that he has been working on his previously announced solo album.

Although the first news of his solo came in December of 2004, no confirmation was given as to whether he would be working on the solo at the time, or whether it would simply be a few tracks. With artists like Common, Black Thought and Kenna already on board, Mike has spent over 2 months in the studio writing and recording material for what he describes as his "solo hip-hop project."

I'm on the fence about this.

It's great that Mike is making a solo album. He's got loads of talent, and he's very eclectic.

On the other hand, LP has only had 2 albums. Shouldn't the bandmates work on their career first, before branching off into projects? Mike now, and then there's the rumor about Chester and a solo album. I would really like to hear some more material from the band before a solo album.

I think that, no matter what, or when the solo album is, a lot of fans will still buy it, and appreciate it...and then there's those who will say that it's shit, and how much they hate LP because of it (some fans <_< ) but I don't think there is a 'too soon' when it comes to showing your true talents to their fullest extent...I mean, if Mike wasn't working on the solo album, he'd be taking a break, or doing other stuff, just like everyone else, it's not as if it would make the new LP album come any faster... :mellow:
...And it's also not as though the fact that Mike is doing something by himself means that he won't be doing anything else for LP...i hope :rolleyes:

I've thought about it, and I am looking forward for the album. It's pretty exciting, really. Mike gets to show more of his hip-hop side, and work with great people in the process. How can people not appreciate this project? Mike is a part of Linkin Park, and shouldn't be bashed by (some) fans for doing his own thing.

People assume that because Mike is doing a solo project that LP has broken up. If anything, Mike is going to bring new ideas to the studio. That's really exciting as well. 2 albums to look forward to :)

Hey, I hope Mike's album comes out okay. Well I give all my luck to him (thats a lot of luck)! And I will buy his cd when it comes out. And support him and the other members of Linkin Park by joining the LPU... :)

good thing is mike working on his own project will be cool, other hand will this lead to LP breaking up to do solo stuff? as quoted they should focus more on their career , but hey im gonna respect them any which way and buy their albums...good luck to mike

I really doubt that Linkin Park will break up. Just because Mike does his own thing (IMO) won't take away from the band. If anything, it may be a good thing :) Mike might bring some new ideas to the studio when LP (finally!) starts working on their album, and might lead to better things.

Well i think it's awesome that he is making his own solo album i can't wait i hope to haer it soon, maybe i'll buy it when it comes out.

i will support him and buy his cd...but i dont think LP is gonna break up cuz of this it will make them better
