Last December, Mike Shinoda reported to online hip-hop magazine BallerStatus that he would be working on a hip-hop project whilst his Linkin Park band mates are taking a rest. On February 14th he attended a Pre Grammy Jam Session hosted by The Roots’ ?uestlove, from which an MTV report revealed that Mike would, in fact, be working on a solo record.

“Right now, I want to switch things up and do something different. I'm in the studio right now working on a hip-hop project. I recently had some meetings with Black Thought, Common, and I'm supposed to meeting with Ice Cube this week. I also just did a track for Chali 2na's solo album, and I'm doing some other production as the projects turn up. We'll have to see what happens.“ - Mike Shinoda (BallerStatus Interview)

Linkin Park fans are unconvincingly undecided about whether Mike Shinoda would work on a solo album or not. Mike has always been from Hip-Hop roots, and has a decidedly large influence in the hip-hop direction of Linkin Park’s music as a whole. Is it wrong for Mike to embark on his dreams and produce a solo record with some of the greatest hip-hop artists in the world?

Yeah- thats what I thought!

This is a great oppurtunity for Mike to extend his horizons. With LP, he has to concentrate on the rock side of the music as well as the HH side. But with a possible solo project, he can really give it all hes got.

Its something he enjoys and its from his roots.

i think its cool mikes going by himself he is a really good rapper but i mean linkin park was a good group. they didnt give mike long enuff raps tho, but alot of ppl dont even like linkin park nonetheless mike shinoda, but alot of ppl do like him, and he has talent u cant deny it u can understand wat hes saying and he has cool beats in his raps, have u herd the song "dedicated" its all mike its all rap its awesome, another thing going against him tho that i think will make him sound better but more ppl hate him is hes a cracker (white person). but hes good, the 2nd best and talented in my opinion, next to eminem...Wouldnt it be funny if htey worked together, lol 2 whities working on a rap song

I agree. But Linkin Park are still a band (thats what I heard) and I just got the Pankake festival dvd today (sad.....it's been out for years and i just got it..... :( )
They looked like they really enjoyed time together (when they dressed up like heavy metal rock stars from the 80's, Chester did that thing where he was pretending to be a evil crook, hilairous :lol: ) Yeah, i think they wil be together for a very long time (or at least a few more years)

Anything Mike does will be great. He's got a lot of talent and is so versatile that he will definately make it far (hell, he already has!)

the album is the Rising Tied, his name is Fort Minor, the first single is set to be Remember The Name, and apparently... though unconfirmed, there is hidden media within the site... but i don't know on the last 1

I'm not really sure thats true, because they are really good friends and mike wouldn't push them aside just for an album and they wouldn't consider it pushing them aside because of something mike has always dreamed about and dreams are something to suport and not discourage. Besides, on mtv news it said that they support mike all the way.So do I! :thumbsup: GO MIKE!
